5 Fall Pro Lip Tips From A Celebrity Make-Up Artist!

During the Fall & Winter, our lips are more likely to become dry from a combination of circumstances; cold weather and low humidity.  It's once again that time of year when  we need to breathe life back into our darker days and dryer lips.   Here are some of my favorite Fall tips and tricks to help rehydrate your pout and bring back that silky, sexy smirk!

Drink Water:

One symptom of dehydration shows in our lips making them dry.  Remember to drink water to help you stay hydrated.  Try making it interesting by adding slices of fresh fruit and herbs to your water.  One of my favorite combo’s is to make a pitcher of water with cut up strawberries and fresh mint leaves or grapefruit and cucumber.  These fruits contain over 90% water themselves!

Exfoliate:

Yes, your lips can use their own TLC with a spa treatment of their own.  A gentle lip scrub will not only exfoliate your lips of those little flakes but it can also hydrate them and help prep them to absorb your lip balm.  Lip scrubs are a combination of exfoliating and moisturizing elements.  Look for a lip scrub that’s specific for lips and is sugar based, which is more softening than salt or nut based scrubs we use on our face or body.

Or make your own  using the #MoroccanMagic DIY Lip Scrub

Moisturize:

Even when you’re not wearing lip colors you want to keep your lips moisturized.  I’m really loving the effects of Argan oil based lip care products.  They absorb quickly and they don’t leave a thick or sticky residue.  I recommend Moroccan Magic’s Peppermint Eucalyptus lip balm (Available on Amazon).  Remember to apply to your lips after brushing your teeth before bedtime.  It’s just as important to apply a moisturizer to your lips as it is to your face at nighttime.

Hydrating lip colors:

Give your lips a little color with some added moisturizing benefits.  Matte lip colors are too dramatic and dry looking for fresh Fall looks.  Enjoy wearing lip colors that are that are creamier in texture and have hydrating ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil to name a few.

Make-up Remover:

While everyone loves the trend in matte and long wearing lip products, our lips need an effective and hydrating option to remove them.  Look for make-up removers that are conditioning and alcohol free.  An effective micellar water make-up remover is a great option.
