Taking Care of Your Skin This Summer

Having Fun Does Not Have To Hurt.
During the summer, people spend most of their time outdoors because it is the nicest time of the year. However, people often take their skin for granted and do not think about how a short time in the sun could potentially cause damage.

Inspired by the warm weather and tendency to forget about skincare during this season, we have decided to dedicate this article to post sun skin care and pre sun skin care.

Whether it is running to your car or picking up the kids, it is still essential to take care of your skin and lips. Vitamin D is essential for your health, but ultraviolet light can be detrimental.

If you are prone to sun burns, there are extra anti-sunburn protections you can take!
  • Have a diet with good enough fats. Avoid processed foods, sugary foods, grains, vegetable oils (enhances sun exposure).
  • Eat antioxidants such as berries and dark chocolate.
  • Up your Vitamin D intake, this shields your body from craving the Vitamin D it does not have.
  • Use homemade sunscreens in addition to regular sunscreen.
  • Avoid toxic sunscreens.

Post Sun Relief.

When you get burnt, it does not have to be that painful!

  • Hydration is great for you when sunburnt. Drink more water and herbal teas.
  • Aloe, the actual plant works best for sunburns.
  • ACV & Herb Sprays work well. Apple Cider Vinegar (diluted) is said to be a great cure for a sunburn.
  • Essential oils such as lavender and helichrysum can sooth and speed burn recovery.
  • Coconut oil sooth sunburns.
  • Don't forget to grab your Lavender Vanilla and Coconut Almond Moroccan Magic Lip Balm for sooth lips.

How The Sun Is Good For You In Moderation.

Being in the sun should not scare you away. In fact, the sun has some essential benefits.

  • The sun creates the release of serotonin and endorphins, therefore putting you in a calm or happy mood.
  • The serotonin creates a more effective amount of melatonin, the hormone that makes you sleep
  • When the sun touches your skin, nitric oxide is released into the blood vessels, which brings you blood pressure levels down. This can make you more relaxed as well.
  • Studies show that the sun can reduce your risk for other types of cancers such as: colorectal, prostate and breast cancer.
  • Vitamin D keeps your bones healthy.
  • Some studies lead in the direction that vitamin d can potentially be associated with weight loss.

Best Sunscreens For You.

Sunscreens with chemicals should be avoided, they are partially harmful for the young ones.

Secrets to your Perfect Summer Glow

We want each and every member of our Moroccan Magic family to radiate their beauty from the inside and out. If you want to achieve the perfect summer glow, we wrote out all of the secrets just for you!

Skincare is the #1 ingredient of an eye-blinding glow! Doing the following will ensure healthy and hydrated skin:
  • Drink Water! Staying hydrated is one of the most important steps to healthy skin. Your complexion will stay clearer and brighter!

  • Exfoliate- Grab the nearest gentle face scrub or exfoliating tool and get rid of that dead skin! Exfoliating will remove the dullness and clear out your pores to let your healthy skin breathe. A tool that has worked miracles in my life is my microdermabrasion system with a diamond tip to get rid of dead skin.

  • Masks- After you exfoliate, you should refresh your skin with a mask. Go for one that offers "brightening" or "hydrating".

  • Moisturize- After removing the mask, make sure to apply your favorite serums and moisturizers to lock in hydration.

  • SPF- Excessive exposure to the sun's rays are harmful to your skin so don't forget to apply either sunscreen or makeup products with SPF. Here are 10 foundations to try if you don't know of any!

  • Low Sodium- Try to keep your sodium levels down to keep skin healthy and radiant

  • Balanced Diet- clean eating and nutrition are very important to keep skin glowing

  • Powder Highlight- Make sure you get those cheekbones looking angelic. You can use any powder highlight you like but make sure you go with a tone that compliments your skin. Ex: If you have yellow undertones, get a golden toned highlight.
  • Liquid/Creme Highlight- another option that I have been into lately is the liquid or creme highlight. You can use your finger/brush/beauty sponge to blend into your cheekbones, nose, chin, upper lip and forehead to give yourself an all over glow.

  • Homemade Highlight: This is my personal favorite trick for the summer. You can make your own glow oil by mixing together coconut, rose or argan oil and powder eyeshadow or highlight. Just scrape some powder out in whichever color you like and mix it into the oil to get a gorgeous shimmering finish. If the oil is too greasy or shiny for you, use a prepping/setting spray or any face mist instead with a few drops of oil to keep the skin hydrated.

  • Relax!!I I bet you don't hear that one often! The key to glowing is making sure that your happiness radiates from within. Spend some quality you-time and let your stress vanish away.

  • Travel- Summer is the perfect time for exploring new sceneries and cultures. Take time to feed your adventurous side and pick a new place to go!

  • Smile- You are your brightest when you smile, so don't be afraid to laugh and enjoy yourself this summer!

5 Most Exciting US Takeaways From The 2018 Winter Olympics

5 Most Exciting US Takeaways From The 2018 Winter Olympics
The Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics had no shortage of epic moments for the US, both dramatic and incredible as athletes from all over the world had come to South Korea to compete for glory. From the colorful opening ceremonies to the emotional US Women's Hockey team claiming gold the games proved to be compelling and addictive.
The U.S. women's hockey team WINS GOLD with a heart-stopping, nail-biting shootout beating Canada and bringing them to the top of the medals podium for the first time in 20 years!
The courage and beauty of Adam Rippon. Cheers to Rippon, the 2016 U.S. national ice skating champion, for being bold enough to be the first openly gay male figure skater on the U.S. Olympic team.
17 years old and taking home a gold medal. Can you imagine? When I was 17 yrs old I was hanging out watching Saved By the Bell and eating Ellios pizza. But, Red Gerard was busy snagging Team USA's first gold of the Winter Olympics in snowboarding.
Curling? ...umm, curling? Yes, curling made quite an impression for itself this year with the press it received. The U.S. men's curling team took gold against Sweden winning the first Olympic curling gold in American history!
Watch out for the squirrel! Okay, so it wasn't an epic American moment, but it is definitely worth noting! Snowboarder Daniela Ulbing had to compete with an unsuspecting obstacle in her snowboard slalom heat. I mean... what!?!
And while we certainly didn't take home as many medals as we would've liked, our athletes did us proud and made for an unforgettable Pyeongchang Olympics.

A Recipe For the Perfect Kiss

Great kissers are few and far between, but it doesn't have to be that way! A little learning can go a long way in this department. Real intimacy can be established with a great kiss. Here's our recipe for the perfect kiss. Learn it and you're golden. Have fun!

    1. Great kissers use their hands.

Take those hands out of your pockets and use them! How? Try touching them gently to the side of your partners face, get playful with their hair and hold your guy or gal tight. It makes it more of an event than just a kiss!

    2. Great kissers respect consent

If you don't have a mutual interest in kissing each other and consent hasn't been clearly established, STEP AWAY FROM THE FACE. End of story.

    3. Keep it FRESH.

There's NOTHING that can stop a kiss in it's tracks quicker than bad breath.
Seriously you ALWAYS want to keep it minty fresh.

    4. Great kissers take their time.

Go slow and ease your way into the kiss. It allows you somewhere to go with it. From relaxing and sensual to exciting and passionate. It's all about pacing yourself.

    5. Great kissers have soft lips.

Make sure your lips don't feel like sandpaper, the best kisses are soft and smooth. And you'll want to be sure you're using a balm that doesn't feel too greasy or have an overwhelming scent. Moroccan Magic argan and essential oil lip balm was voted #1 drugstore lip balm for a reason. You can kill two birds with one stone if you choose the peppermint eucalyptus flavor, which will leave your mouth fresh and minty. Test it out this month on your Valentine!

At the end of the day it's all about mutual interest and connecting and having fun with your partner, but a great kiss NEVER hurts. Have FUN!

Happy Valentine's Day from all of us @MoroccanMagic <3
