How To Spend Your 4th Of July - The American Way

Shop Local

It’s no secret that supporting small businesses in your area is great for the economy, but did you know that it also increases overall joy and elation? We suggest breaking up with your coffee franchise this summer and popping into your neighborhood coffee shop for a change. Find a farmers market and treat yourself to some fresh produce!

Don’t forget to keep an eye out for products made in the states, as well. Shopping domestic is an easy and excellent way to support your local countrymen and women.

Go on a Road Trip

Find a new spot between our shining seas to celebrate America in all her glory. A few of our favorite places we’ve visited are listed below to help inspire your wanderlust.

Martha’s Vineyard, MA

Okay, you’re right. You can’t exactly road trip to an island, but you can drive right on to the Woods Hole ferry that will carry you to your final destination. Martha’s Vineyard is one of our favorite places to visit in the summer, and not just because we’re a Boston-based company. Spend your fourth on one of the islands famous beaches and take a dip off of Jaw’s bridge!

Newport, RI

One of New England’s lesser-known gems, Newport hosts a series of Fourth of July celebrations and firework viewings that will be worth your while. Or take a spin around the harbor on one of the town’s historic sailboats. Bike to one of Rhode Island’s acclaimed beaches and enjoy an ice cold Del’s for us!

Charleston, SC

Charleston is nothing like you would expect when you hear “the crown jewel of the American south”. The city is truly other-worldly, with the perfect amount of Southern hospitality and charm. The quintessential pride and patriotism you’ll find in Charleston are what makes it the perfect addition to your Fourth of July road trip. From parades to Patriots Point and everything in between, we’re positive Charleston will have the Independence day celebration best suited to your caravan.

Anna Maria Island, FL

While you head up or down the East Coast -- if that’s the route you choose -- pay a visit to Florida’s sweetheart. Keep the party going in the sunshine state with horseback riding on the beach or experience the Tour de Turtles; a 3-month “marathon” between 20 turtles that are released from beaches in Costa Rica, Panama, Nevis, and Florida!

San Diego, CA

Out of all of these stellar options, San Diego might take the cake for us this July. Experience stunning fireworks above the San Diego skyline. There is even a cruise ship service that will take you to experience the show from the water!

Host a BBQ

Nothing screams ‘homegrown American’ more than our borderline-abrasive hospitality. Invite your friends, family, neighbors, mailman, and dog-walker over for a good ol’ fashion barbeque this Independence day and celebrate the American way: a comfortable distance in between the cooler and the grill.

Go to a Baseball Game

Ahh… America’s favorite past time. Encourage some healthy competition at the BBQs you’ll be visiting or hosting with a friendly game of backyard-ball. Or stop by your local ballpark and root… root, root… for your home team!

And because we’re from Boston… Go Sox!
